The Job Hunter's Holiday Wish List

By: Kandice Thorn

The holidays are just around the corner and that means gifts galore for everyone!  As you prepare your wish list, please allow me to suggest a few things that might help you on your way to finding your dream job.

1.  A LEATHER PORTFOLIO.  The one below from Brookstone would work nicely for a job interview.  The large pocket will hold your resumes and other documents and the small pocket is perfect for stashing the business cards you collect from your interviewers.
2.  A CLASSIC TIE.  A striped tie, like this one from Brooks Brothers, is always a solid choice.
3.  A SIMPLE STRING OF PEARLS.  This is the female equivalent of the striped tie.  Real pearls can get spendy, but economical glass pearls like the ones below from Ralph Lauren (available at Nordstrom) work just as well.

4.  A GIFT CERTIFICATE FOR A MASSAGE.  Searching for a job is hard work!  Taking some time to de-stress can make you calmer and more focused in your efforts.

5.  A NEW PAIR OF DRESS SHOES.  In New York City, shoes get worn out pretty quickly and scuff marks are not appropriate accessories in a professional setting.  Even if you have a nice pair now, it can't hurt to have an extra on hand.  Opt for something beautiful and conservative.
